It's a handmade holiday show. There are all types of vendors there including jewelers, screen printers, soap makers and us. By "us", I mean my good friend Michael Hudecek of Forest City Portage and Myself. He makes great messenger bags and other bike commuter accessories as well as tote bags, tool pouches, and wallets. This year we shared a booth. The show ends today at 6pm.

Knuckle pouches

If you purchase a set of knucks from me, this is what they will arrive in. This allows the shelves to be able to be moved up/down and left/right. I'va also inlayed a 1/4" slice of Maple in the bottom in place of my usual "SAWHORSE" stamp.
These have a much higher weight limit than my Color block shelves. New organ donor line.

This is an idea I have for a new TV stand. The mockup is pretty much done. It is made from pieces carefully removed from a very old church organ and Local soft Maple slabs. There will also be two shelves undcer the main slab to store your video game system, dvd, bluray or just a spot to keep magazines. It will provide hidden cord returns and contain a power strip in the leg. It will be a 3 shelf set and the backer piece is a 2"x12" LVL engineered truss. It will take up a 3'x3' square on the wall. It all started when I began planing down a 2"x8"x9ft "mystery board"(I call it this because, like a lot of the lumber I dig up at my sawmill, it was so covered in dust and rough saw marks that I didn't know what kind of wood it was until I began surfacing it.). It ended up being Elm with incredible character.

It is cut from the crotch of the tree(where the trunk splits into two like a giant slingshot). This causes a disruption in the growth of this area and makes the grain pattern go haywire. One of the shelves is the uppermost section of the board as it grew and is almost entirely split down the middle. I removed the bark and allowed the 1" pegs to be visible. I think it added a lot of interest.

MEGASAW!!! I picked the most interesting section to be the seat and the backrest which are 1-1/2" thick and then milled the rest to 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" to make the legs.

All of the frame pieces are joined together by glue and pegs. To set it off just a little bit more, I stained the legs with a Minwax walnut stain and then applied three coats of polyurethane to the entire piece. The seat and backrest are joined by stainless steel piano hinges which, incidentally, are the only pieces of metal on the chair.

To keep the chair locked in the open position, I made a latch out of a 3/4 oak dowel which slides open and closed. The purpose for this is so that the chair won't fold when you grab the back to pull it under you.

I designed this chair for myself so it is the only one in existence. I named it the Rathskeller chair because it reminds me of moving bookshelves to reveal a secret passageway into a speakeasy. It definitely makes people do a double-take.

Bullseye shelf complete

This is a shelf that attaches with two hidden screws so it appears to be stuck in the wall or floating. I do this for two reasons: first, since I won't be using modern metal fasteners(nails, screws), this provides a very tight and solid joint. Second, I really like the look of the tops of the legs protruding from the slab(as seen from above). I think that second reason is what kind of separates my work from other sorts of rugged, live-edge, hunting lodge looking pieces that I've seen.
Next, I will glue and peg the legs into the body. Then I will move onto finishing the surface.

Kidd's Table pt. 1

Here is the start of a custom coffee table for a friend of mine.
